Furikulum Kurikulum... - what?

Post by Aetherfukz » Thu Jul 24, 2003 4:02 pm

I just finished watching the last episode of Furi Kuri, and all I can say is WTF?
OK so this girl Haruta was from another Planet searching for her Atomsk? And for Naota, all was kinda bad in the end, he didn't get any girl, his father a jerk like always, and Mamimi moved away being a good photographer...

But what was it all about really? That everything in life, no matter who exxagerating it may be, is normal?

Help a confused brain ... :?

Peace out,
~Aetherfukz

Heh...

As someone replied once when I asked a similar question: "FLCL and plot in the same sentence?" FLCL is very confusing. Search the internet...you'll eventually find something that gives a decent summary. I can't really explain it right now.

All I know about it is that everything that happens stands for something.

What the show is really about is growing up, and how truly growing up means not caring what other people think of you and just being yourself. This is shown with Amarao, who is treated by Haruko as a kid and pathetic loser because he tries to act all grown up and mature even though he's just a kid inside. Naota was going down this same path but I tend to think that because of his time with Haruko he changed his ways and started just being himself.

I think you can just watch it again and see what it means for you.

FLCL is art. Art has a beautiful quality of being ambiguous enough for anyone to be able to draw their own conclusions and find their own meanings in it. Try it. It's cool.

Personally, I found FLCL to be, at least to some extent, to be an anime about anime and also a social parody of certain aspects of modern Japanese society, particularly the youth. A very grotesque parody, at that.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Fingers snapping like whipcords, HCP concocted a highly ambiguous response. Fabbo!

If you have the dvd's i suggets you watch them with the voice over commentary ... it's a very helpful feature sonce it lets you know what was going on in the dirrector/creator's(i think) mind when he was doing certain things.

But FLCL is great ... and it was my first "real" anime ... yea i know ... weird title to be your first ... needless to say ... i still don't understnd anything that's happened even thought i've watched the first 2 DVD's about 4 times ...

any ways rewatch liberaly and enjoy ... the best advice i can give ... and avoid the dub side luke.

I have seen the entire series, in one sitting, and Aetherfukz, I agree with you. My only impression of this anime is WTF. I have tried watching it again, but it doesn't help. I think the mangaka was on some pretty trippy drugs when this was produced. That's my theory to explain this anime, and I'm sticking to it.
Someone really fucking hates me. If you ever decide to show your face, please, pay me a visit. I’d like to introduce you to several obscene gestures.
