Grave of the Fireflies.

Post by Brolli411 » Tue Dec 10, 2002 9:46 pm

Did anyone find this as unbearably sad as I did?! *still wiping tears out* Ohhhhhh...
It may be sad, but that's no reason not to like it. Up until the end, I really loved the story line, a boy growing up without parental aid, and having to act as a person himself. Just they did a very good job devolving the characters. There are many other things I like about it, but that is the main thing.

What do you think about this very good anime?

It is tied with vampire hunter D bloodlust as my favorite anime.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I found it to be a movie where the japs are trying to make themselves look like they were victims. I dont feel sorry for them one bit. A better movie is one called railway of the stars because it's a bunch of japs that were occupying korea and now they have to escape the communist and they have to rely on the koreans they enslaved for help. Yes Grave of the fireflys has some intense scenes in it but like every Miya what's his face film it's over rated.

You... they WERE victims, ya know?! War was over at the time the bomb dropped. It was just an example what the USA can/could do... sad thing...

It is a very good movie, but as I told my friends before I showed it to them, 'It is the most depressing movie I've ever seen!" And then, couple hours later, they also said, "That is the most depressing movie we've ever seen!" It's very good though. Very well developed, demonstrates the whole "pride" issue quite well I think.

The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.

Quite true, that this is the most depressing movie ever, but take a look at Now and Then, Here and There, which maybe the most depressing Series ever after...

Mr Oni
Mr. Oni has again and again posted some hateful, insensitive and useless drivel in the past, but this is a new low.

The movie is about how children were made to suffer during wartime. It doesn't matter what war we talk about... the movie is more about making us think about the suffering of innocents in the time of war.

I wish I could even talk coherently about my rage that comes to my mind when I read a post as empty and horrid as this.

I have already written many a post on what a wretched piece of human damage Mr. Oni is. Stupidity and ignorance on his level makes me just want to scream. Mr. Oni is the saddest statement on how bad our country is doing if it can still create festering little sores like him.

I have nothing but contempt for people like him...

Little coward.
Little diseased, fearful, maladjusted, ignorant, cowardly, useless, stupid, cretinous, hate-monger.

He's so damaged that he actually likes to write things that will result in torrents of insults being hurled at him.

I've run out of words and am left with just swears to scream at this piece of filth

so I'm stopping here.

Lol are you on crack!!! they didn't surrender until we dropped 2 atom bombs on them. Grave of the fireflys is about the firebombing of tokyo . It's the firebombing of tokyo which didnt send the message so we had to drop two A bombs to let them know they couldn't win. took em freakin long enough to surrender.

The movie is very sad. The loss of life of such young, innocent children is sad whether it is children suffering during war time or children getting shot in American Schools... such death is tragic... and only the most inhumane of people would find the death of children a trivial thing.

I have heard that this story is based on the true story of a man who lost his sister in the war... but in this case, the man survived, but was haunted by the loss...

The man who made this film also made "Whispers of the Heart" and is Miyazaki's protege. (Though Miyazaki did the dream sequence in that film)

I think Grave of the Fireflies is one of the best movies to come out of the anime world and that it is one of the most powerful movies on the tragedies of war.
