Though I've lurked around for a while, I'm only just now becoming an active part of the Anime Music Video community. I'd floundered about for some time, knowing that I'd like to try making an anime music video for almost two years, but I didn't want to begin my efforts without a solid concept that had a good chance of being realized. One day, I decided that this particular video was something I could do, hopefully with some amount of competence.

    On the Music:

To be honest, I realize that "Hero" is not the most original song in the world. Not only that, it is now some months old, and has been used in several other projects (though none of them Cowboy Bebop). Why, then, you ask, would I choose it as the music to which I would set this video? The answer to that is simple: the song got stuck in my head, and I began to plan out scenes for it, as practice for when I made my first video. Before I knew it, I had storyboarded the entire video concept, and at that point, I determined that I should go ahead and finish the project fully. This is my first video, and also marked the flagship endeavor of NERD studios, which currently consists of myself and a friend.

    On The Video:

I chose Cowboy Bebop as my anime despite the glut of Bebop videos out there for two simple reasons. First, because Cowboy Bebop was the anime I just happened to storyboard the music to. Second, because this is my first video and I wanted to start off with an anime that I was comfortable with, so that I could easily know where in the series to find almost any clip I would need. Remember, it could've been worse: I could've chosen EVA. The original concept of the video was to be a menage with all of the crew of Bebop, though that changed into a Spike/Faye video in the initial stages. About halfway through the video, though, I realized that it would be a much better video as a Spike/Julia. Despite my hatred of all things Julia, I decided to go that way for the good of the video, and I have to admit that it did turn out much better for the change. I find that, afterward, I don't really dislike Julia anymore.

The above said, this is not only my first video, it is the first video editing of any kind I have ever attempted. When I began this I had never even used Adobe Premiere, nor any of the other tools I found useful in the creation of this video. Despite this, I feel that this video is indeed a good effort, and if I did not think it was worthwhile to watch, it would have died on the cutting room floor. The video probably took 40 or so hours to get a rough cut, and at least 60 additional hours of polishing and tuning. Excessive, but I tend to be a perfectionist.

Whew, this is longer than I had intended. Before I go, if you download the video, please Please PLEASE take a moment to tell me what you thought of it. I don't intend at all for this to be my last video, and any input at all that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. And if you just liked the video, I'd love to hear that, too, believe me.

Most importantly, I really hope that you enjoy it.
