I felt like doing something a little light but still with lots of heart. I wanted to make something sentimental and touching. Hopefully this video will realize my plans.
It will have a very Spring/Summer feel to it since that's when the movie takes place. The editing in this video will be very simple but still up to my usual standards I hope.
'Only Yesterday' is one of my favorite Ghibli movies. It has no loud gun fights , no car chases, no weird fantasy characters, no adolescent sight gags. The story telling is so pure and subtle. The story itself is relatively simple but executed in such a flawless manner that it keeps you highly entertained throughout. This film could have easily been a live-action movie, but it wouldn't measure up to the sensitivity and visual poetry that Ghibli puts into this movie. Everytime I watch this movie I can never point out any flaws. The methods of storytelling are nothing short of magical.
