If you've played the retro game classic "Space Invaders" and seen the battle scenes from Crest of the Stars, you know how I came up with the idea for this video. The series has great drama and emotion, but the lengthy space ship fights never interested me that much. Since the majority of my videos are drama/sadness/angst, I also wanted to do something different for a change. Thus I present to you a funny dancey Crest of the Stars video! Or at least it's supposed to be humorous...

Editing to dance music has its pros and cons. Doing the timing and finding the beats is relatively easy, but the songs are usually quite repetitive. When you're listening to the same chorus for the thousandth time, you begin to wonder why the hell you chose that type of music. :/

When I started this video, I had recently upgraded to AviSynth 2.53 and Decomb 5.1. When I watched some of the clips, I noticed strange jerkiness. After downgrading to Decomb 4 the motion was much smoother. So I ended up remaking the problematic parts with the earlier version.

To those of you who are interested, the Space Invaders clips are from a Super Nintendo game. The footage was captured using Camtasia Recorder and ZSNES. For this I got a lot of useful information from the Retro Video Game Project guides.

I know for sure that no one is going to notice the hard work I put into creating the news pages near the end of the video. So here they are in their original size:

    Al Jazeera
    BBC
    CNN
    AnimeMusicVideos.Org
    Reuters
    Xinhua
    YLE

Every page is dated 7/10/2004 because the first AMV contest in Finland is supposed to take place on that day at Animecon III in Jyväskylä. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, the starfield behind the images is from the classic Windows screen saver. :)
