  • Comments: This is an AMV that I was contracted to make by ADV, for use on DVD volume 7 of Noir as an Easter Egg. ADV provided discs 1-5 of the DVD release as footage, and I was given the choice of using either the opening or ending song (which had to be extracted from the DVD itself).

Because of how many videos I was working on at the time (I received the contract in late summer, during AWA deadline crunch time), I had only a weekend to make this video. I had only seen one episode of Noir at the time, and I obviously didn't have time to watch through it before editing. I knew almost nothing of the plot or characters, so I didn't feel confident that I could make a coherent slow drama video using the ending song; as a result, I opted for making a mindless action video with the opening song.

Editing consisted of finding all the best action scenes and trying to keep up with the energy of the music. I was restricted to cuts and fades, which was just fine by me, since I wouldn't have had time to do anything fancy anyway. I'm more or less happy with the end result; even if I had been given more time, I probably wouldn't have been able to do much more with it.

The video is not available for download, as the video itself, not just the footage, is the legal property of AD Vision.

    To access the video:

    Play episode 25
    Skip to chapter 4 (a mid-action chapter)
Press RIGHT on your DVD player remote (or on your PS2 controller :P)

(pressing the other directions will show you videos by the other editors)

    Note:
My video has been known to choke on some DVD players :( It will play on PS2, though for some reason there are a couple of odd pauses in the footage (the music keeps going, though). Ah well. Go out and buy volume 7 of Noir!

Thanks to Quu and the folks at ADV for this opportunity.
