• Comments: The second part of my Perfect Blue trilogy, this one started out in my head as *just* a vid about Mima's plight with her other, pop idol self, with lots of mirror cuts between the "real" Mima and the actress Mima, and quite a bit from the final scene, where "pop idol" Mima chases the real one. But once I got down to it...well...
  
  Regardless of how it turned out, I wanted the Perfect Circle vid and this one to connect somehow, and the idea that came out of it was the beginning scene, where 3 Libras is playing on the radio, or Me-Mania's computer, or whichever way you wanna interpret it. In editing that, and trying to think of the right scene to cut to after the hug, i came across the one thing I was dreading ever having to edit in: the rape scene. The scene hurts to watch, even IN context. And yet, I say to myself, "come on, I'm 21, for cripes sake. Could be worse; could be "Irreversible""
  
  And thats when it hit me. The door could swing two ways on this vid, if I take my cue in message alone from that film. The whole message (in case you missed it, sprawled 90 bloody feet high across the screen :p) was that events have an effect. good or bad, they affect things, often times permanently. And most of the time, no amount of retribution, no KIND of retribution, will make things better. So, basically, the first part of the vid ruins Mima, and also shows the ugly truth about Mr. Me-Mania (sorry to all those who thought the 3 Libras vid was pretty :p) , the middle puts her at wits against herself, and the end is the retribution against everyone who put her in that position, which doesnt change things, just leaves her empty. I know, didnt need that spelled out, but, I'm in a writing mood, what can I say?
  
  This one was spawned out of an editing super-spree that went from about 3 pm till 11 at night, with some minor changes when I got up the next morning. Thankfully, no one's complained about the faux-widescreen zooming in with the rest of the picture. I hate it, but, sorry, the DVD's not anamorphic. And anyone ready to complain about the horrible audio gaffes at the start, cut me some slack please. Editing video is easy. audio effects are something else. It was hard enough getting typing sounds over one of the translation cards. :p The ending collage means the same thing as the last vid, only I spelled it out for real at the end this time. And if anyone moderating the site is wondering, yes, I took out all the nudity, and edited the rape scene into a fine, "insinuation only" pulp. As for the violence, I've seen far worse on the site, out of local d/ls, no less. Thank you for not banning me. :p
  
  And yes, the third vid is coming. YES, it will have a happy ending, I promise you.
