  • Comments: This is a feel-good, family video I made to a gorgeous rendition of "My Blue Heaven" performed by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan on the piano.

    I simply wanted to capture the nostalgic, heartwarming feel that one gets from watching Miyazaki's classics My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service. One day if I get my hands on Laputa, Nausicca and Porco Rosso source (Mononoke doesn't really have any moments which fit the music, IMHO) I may redo it with more varied footage. You'll notice that there's a ton more Kiki footage than Totoro footage, which is a shame. The problem was Macrovision, of all things. Most capture cards bypass Macrovision without a second thought, but for some reason my ATI All in Wonder 128 had issues with it. So after I went through and captured all of Totoro, I discovered I only had about one minute total of footage that hadn't been ruined by the Macrovision.

    Any way, I still enjoy watching this video for the feelings it evokes. It was inspired largely by Elaine Chen's "My Little Totoro" video.
