So, what is this thing, anyways? Well....the idea came from the original music video for AIFOL....you know, the one where Bjork's an incomplete robot who falls in love with a completed one? Yeah, that. And if you've seen that, then you'll also realize from the get-go what a thematic match the introduction from GITS is to that video. Same concept, just no second robot. What we have in the vid is the Major getting her regular tune up, but yet, weirdly enough, its not the usual torque wrench, oil spurt, screwdriver tune up....no, in lots of ways...this one's beautiful...its magic. The song fits, dangit. But of course, I have to give the requisite warning.
THERE IS TASTEFUL NUDITY INVOLVED IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE VIDEO...FOR GODS SAKE, DONT DOWNLOAD IF YOU MIGHT BE OFFENDED. THANK YOU.
As for the second half...well...the maintenance doesnt last forever....so, what's left? Well, lots of people tend to forget, in the midst of all the cool thermoptic camouflage, and ripping the skin off tanks that at its heart, its still the story about how human the Major is. (or isnt). And while that intermission scene in the movie tends to be construed as the Japanese showing off their badass animation skills (not that I blame 'em.), it's also more or less about the Major seeing all these human things around here, and wondering if she's really a part of it. Hopefully that comes across....corse if it doesnt, hey, it still looks good. Enjoy.
