INTO THE MOTHERLAND, THE GERMAN ARMY MARCHED...
An metal-driven action video commemorating the fighting on the Eastern Front of WWII, also known as the Great Patriotic War...
70 years to the day I released this video, the German invasion of the USSR had begun, sparking the most devastating, cruel and desperate war in history, a tragedy on a scale not known before. The date has always been significant to me as a Russian whose course of life was directly shaped by that conflict, even if I was born many years after it. And I think all of us today still live in an age affected by this war, even if we don't know it.
So, anyway, I thought I should do something special to mark the date, and thus put together this quick video. I took First Squad and basically focused on the war elements of it, ignoring any of the supernatural stuff that (imo) made that film rather dumb in the first place. This was a stretch and I knew my choice of footage would be very, very limited - but I'm happy with how this turned out. I NEEDED to make a video for this anniversary with this kickass song (hopefully it's obvious why), even a simple and quick one.
The video took approximately 11 hours to complete.
