    ### SPOILER WARNING!!! ###
    ######################

    Do not watch this video if you have not seen this series. It contains possible emotional spoilers. Most people feel cheated if they find things out about the ending of this show before seeing it. I'm just warning you now so you won't hate me later :)

    Also, don't even read the video description as I'm going to talk about the ending. Sorry ^^;;

    The concept
    =========

    I've always liked this song but could never really come up with an anime that fit with the general idea behind it. I'm not even sure SaiKano is that anime but I knew that I could do something interesting with the song and this anime.

    The title of this amv is crucial to the understanding of it. This is a video depicting memories of love and memories of conflict.... these are memories that are appearing to Shuji at the very very end of the show. In a sense I've given my own interpretation of what I think the ending is all about and the last verse of the song is the key to my interpretation of the ending.

    Anyway, hopefully with the visual clues I've put in the video this concept should make reasonable sense. Be warned, the video doesn't take the lyrics or even the style of music at face value - I am very much reinterpreting them both so apologies to anyone who gets lost along the way.

    This video was made for Jacon 2003. I had a week to make the video before the final deadline and I completed the video in 5 days with a couple for tweaking. I think it's a reasonable attempt at the romance/drama genre but not necessarily the finest example.... this video was much more challenge coneptually that I originally thought it would be. I think I pulled it off, but only just - balancing the contrasting emotions in the song and the footage and doing all the reinterpretations was a huge gamble.

    Stylistically it has two lite motifs - the bleach white of the diffuse glow which represent the almost fantastical way the happier emotions are remembered and the image of fading into the glowing light between shuji's hands - in the show supposedly representing Chise, here representing his own thoughts and memories. The rest of the interpretation I'll let you piece together yourself.

    Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy it!

    Lyrics:
    =====

    This is our last goodbye
    I hate to feel the love between us die
    But it's over
    Just hear this and then i'll go
    You gave me more to live for
    More than you'll ever know

    This is our last embrace
    Must I dream and always see your face
    Why can't we overcome this wall
    Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all

    Kiss me, please kiss me
    But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
    You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
    I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

    Did you say "no, this can't happen to me,"
    And did you rush to the phone to call
    Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
    Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
    You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

    Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
    Burning clues into this heart of mine
    Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
    Offer signs that it's over... it's over
