  • Comments: This video has been committed to Anime Boston since I got the idea. It eventually turned into SH video #64, and Kuroi Kenshi video #7, and it's one of the few where the end product matched up well with the initial concept. Because of how I work on videos, this is not often the case; the video has its own ideas about how it will go and where it wants to be headed. Here, though, it went mostly like I thought it would, and on the way set new records for number of cuts (189) and editing speed (1.43 seconds per cut).

This video is being sent to Anime Boston, but right now the odds are heavily *against* it actually being shown. It's a full-on KK video with nothing held back or altered for competition, or anybody else's tastes. Effects on this one are basically limited to a single interleave-fade sequence at the end that might strike viewers as either over-the-top or dead-on, depending on how they react overall to the video. There aren't a lot of good, violent, Jin-Roh videos out there; most of the good ones play up the romantic/tragic angle, but that's only one way of reacting to the film. It's not just about "failure of the human spirit"; it can also be read as an affirmation of the metal contention that there IS no human spirit, no divine spark, and that life only makes sense when you come to terms with your own innate wolfen nature and live within the structure of natural law: eat or be eaten. A dark affirmation of a dark premise.

That was the way I approached this film, and this video. The title suggests the nightmare aspects of Fuse's perception, but also references Enslaved's album of the same name, which is about breaking the artifical bonds created by a Judaeo-Christian culture of weakness and mental enslavement to reachieve the stability, sanity, and simplicity of a volksich, pagan, and ultimately wolfen synthesis.

Description overdone? Maybe, but this is a KK video; one of the ones that go out looking for people to eat instead of people to watch them.

This video is on megaupload.com; you will have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it, but if this doesn't work or isn't possible, let me know. This usually means that nobody's downloaded the file in the last 30 days and the link has gone dead.

Shin Hats Self Grade: A. It starts a little show, but builds all the way through, and finishes in a fashion pretty ultimate even for a KK video.
