  Yuki Nagato and Ryouko Asakura take center stage in this character profile and my first venture into Haruhism. Nagato, Melancholy's indispensable silent character, plays the heroine to Asakura's villian and Kyon, the series' protagonist, fills the 'damsel in distress' role very well. Haruhi Suzumiya, Melancholy's title character also plays an important role, though her presence in the video is much more subdued then I think she would like. Sorry Suzumiya, feel free to punish all involved (I refuse to go down alone for this) as you see fit.
  
  Production Notes:
  I got to play with all sorts of fun new stuff while making this vid. A new trial verison on After Effects meant I got to play with that again, new filters and filtering techniques with AVISynth, and last, but certainly not least, x264. Now, I'm still learning the ins and outs of this codec, but early betas with it gave me better picture quality and higher resolution then Xvid at nearly half the file size. That's what I call groovy. Still the twenty MB version washed out my static so I had to up it a little, to thirty, for the release version.
