• Comments: I'm a huge Rilo Kiley fan, so I was naturally excited about lead singer Jenny Lewis' debut solo album. I managed to get my hands on the tracks nearly a month before the album's release (as of now, the album is still over 2 weeks from release), and the song "You Are What You Love" immediately grabbed me. I decided almost instantly that I wanted to use it in an AMV, and Millennium Actress was the first anime that came to mind. The song is about the futile search for meaning in a dead-end relationship...so I felt using Millennium Actress would be an interesting interpretation of the song. To me, the line, "You are what you love, not what loves you back" describes Millennium Actress perfectly.
  
  I've wanted to do a Rilo Kiley AMV for a long time, but Jenny Lewis' unique style of lyrics -- conversational, free-form, usually telling a very specific story -- is really difficult to match up with anime, and her solo work proved to be no different. And this was paired up with an anime that changes visual style, setting and genre every 5 minutes. So basically, making this video was a maddening process. It took about 2 days for basic editing, and then a few more days were spent tweaking and replacing scenes. If you haven't seen the anime, the video probably makes absolutely no sense, and even if you have, it's probably not the most cohesive video out there. Ah well, there were still some parts that I really enjoyed editing, and that's what counts, right? :P
