Re: How old are you guys?
Logged on for the first time in like many many years. So many people where much older than me when I was active 15 years ago in the community, I'm wondering who's still around. ...I'm 38 now.

You were 12 in 1999, a world before YouTube or even the website you're on right now. How did you first find out about AMVs?

I'm 33. I've been editing since my freshman year of college in 2007. It was only less than a year prior to that when I started getting REALLY into anime. Before then, I'd seen a few shows on Toonami, liked them, wanted more, but didn't have the time and/or self-agency to seek out this stuff without approval from my parents. But then I found out that there were whole shows on youtube (It was basically a bootleg streaming service back then) and my addiction kicked in full force. And when you look up anime on youtube, you also find AMVs.

With the internet. I remember some old sites with AMVs to download. Only the classic ones. It was a completely different world for sure. Many was changed along the years. But i still remember the good times.

Haha! I first made this account when I was 15 years old, I was scared to post anything and then I just got used to not saying anything at all. But this thread piqued my interest so.
The funny part is that I turn 31 this year and now I'm in graduate school. But anime and AMVs are still cool.

That has to be some kind of all-time lurking record!
I guess like a lot of people I found out about anime through Toonami in the US, then I used search engines like Ask Jeeves and Yahoo to search for anime content. Toonami Digital Arsenal was my main source for AMVs until Youtube was established. Youtube used to be a great place for AMVs but now it isn't with all the problems on that platform. Would be nice if fans started making their own websites again but there's issues with that too.

Time accelerates as you get older. When you're a kid, a minute takes a whole hour to pass. Now ten years go by in an hour.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.
